Ultrasonographic Findngs of Obstructive Jaundice

Abstract
|
|
|
Ultrasonographic findings of obstructive jaundice in 27 patients are presented. The results are as follows ;
1. The diameter of common duct was 1.9cm in stone ana 1.7cm in carcinoma.
2. In patients with common duct stone, strong echogenic mass with acoustic shadowing was seen in 9 patients(56%) and multiplicity was notea in 3 patients(19&). In patients with carcinoma, moaerately echofenic mass without acoustic shadowing was seen in 6 patients(55%) and multiplicity was not noted.
3. The margin of obstruction of common duct was meniscus-shaped in 9 patients(56%) with stone, and nipple ana tapering appearance in 5 patients(46%) with carcinoma.
4. Diagnostic acfuracy of ultrasonography was 56% in stone and 54% in carcinoma.
